Fashionable Opticians Kite GB Enhance Customer Experience with Mirror Touch Screen Solution

A highly-responsive, aesthetic yet durable mirror-finished multitouch unit has allowed retail customers to connect with friends and family whilst in store. Along with our integration partner Display Technology, Zytronic incorporated touchscreen functionality into a reflective, toughened glass surface to create an attractive, touch-enabled point of sale unit for fashionable high-street opticians, Kite GB.

Key information

At their flagship store in London’s East End, a sleek, smooth-fronted PCT™ gagement. The finished product now allows customers to take photos of themselves wearing their chosen frames, then via the unit they can share the images with friends and family on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

For a unit constantly exposed to the public, Kite GB required a rugged touch solution with no compromise on performance or appearance. Projected Capacitive Technology can withstand extreme temperatures, scratches, impacts or exposure to harsh chemicals, which can often compromise the lifespan of less protected touch sensors.

Unlike Infrared, optical and surface acoustic wave technologies, Zytronic’s PCT™ doesn’t need a bezel to accommodate its sensors/emitters, allowing a sleek and attractive design to be realised.

“We really wanted to enhance the user experience and provide an environment that is conducive to social sharing. The unit is already proving very popular and is a great differentiator for Kite.”

Asad Hamir, CEO of Kite GB
