Tyneside Firm Has The Right Touch For Overseas Success

A Tyneside firm specialising in the design and manufacture of touch sensors has proved it has the right touch for overseas success thanks to the support of UK Trade & Investment’s Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS).

Zytronic Displays Limited has more than 40 years experience in the optical glass laminating industry and has developed a range of rugged touch sensor products based on its unique, award-winning projected capacitive technology (PCTTM).

Since its launch in 2001, there has been widespread adoption of the new technology around the world, but the company was keen to explore its potential in emerging new markets such as Turkey. It enlisted the support of UK Trade & Investment and commissioned an OMIS report to gain an insight into this region.

Ian Crosby, Sales & Marketing Director for Zytronic Displays Limited, explained:

“We already had a network of distributors in established European markets but were keen to explore new growth areas and establish a presence. We have used OMIS several times before and have found the reports invaluable in helping us make an initial assessment of opportunities in targeted countries and also to identify potential partners.

“As a result we have now appointed Spektrum Elektronik, in Istanbul, as Turkish agent for our complete portfolio of touch sensors and supporting products which will enable us to extend our customer base in this region.

“Spektrum Elektronik has a strong reputation and this new partnership will help us consolidate our position in this strategically important growth country.”

John Doolan, one of UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Advisers, said:

“Even experienced exporters such as Zytronic can benefit from the expert support that UK Trade & Investment can offer and OMIS offers a practical, flexible service that can be tailored to a company’s individual needs.

“It offers a range of support from researching the market, arranging appointments with business contacts or guiding a company through the process of exporting including information on technical standards, labelling and packaging regulations.

”Our staff will discuss the options with a company and help it draw up a work plan. There is no set package – only an intention to identify and provide the support and advice that will be most helpful to the company concerned.”

OMIS offers five levels of service at discounted rates, with prices ranging from around £500 up to £2,000, and is available in all countries where UK Trade & Investment has representation.
