PCT™ Selected for Outdoor, Self-Service Kiosks in Edinburgh Tram Stations

04 March 2014

On a recent visit to Edinburgh, our Technical Director, Dr Andrew Morrison spotted our proprietary Projected Capacitive Technology (PCT™) touchscreens being used in the new Tram Station ticket machines being installed throughout Edinburgh.

As part of the Transport for Edinburgh Group, the trams system is currently in its test phase, with plans to have the trams fully operational for the public by May / June 2014.

The outdoor self-service kiosk, which features a touch panel, with card reader and NCF contactless reader, will be continuously exposed to the elements and potential vandalism in the busy capital city. By choosing our rugged PCT touch sensors, the system should be available to the general public 24/7, all year round and minimise costly downtime periods for the operator.
