Touch Screen Gaming – Making an Impact on the Casino Floor

14 July 2015

Visit any of the popular casinos across the US, and Asia and the attractive dazzling screens featuring touch technology is prevailing.

Innovative touch screen technology is encouraging casino game designers to create products with more sophisticated functionality and design; and as a result, manufacturers are utilising the sleek and effective technology like never before.

Touch screen technology allows for games which traditionally feature clunky buttons and other external additions to be embedded within the software, leading to more and more aesthetically dynamic and eye catching displays on large scale and curved screens.

An exemplar illustration of this where gaming cabinet designers have stretched the boundaries of traditional casino product design is the Arc by Aristocrat, which made its debut at The Global Gaming Expo 2014.

The dual display, multi touch concave curved 42” screen stands head and shoulders above the busy casino floor, offering gamers a unique immersive and interactive gaming experience.

In addition to the aesthetic advantages offered by touch screen technology, vendors and casino owners also benefit from the extremely durable and reliable embedded touch sensors of Projected Capacitive Technology (PCT™).  Resilient to spilt drinks, scratches from watches and cufflinks, and the ability to take some serious hits from frustrated gamers; Projected Capacitive Technology prevents downtime, where traditional cabinets often suffer due to any damaged caused.  Casinos are now also seeing the value in replacing live card game tables with touch tables for very similar reasons, where reduction in downtime is key. Not only are they extremely durable and vandal resistant, they also remove issues with cheating that can be linked with live tables where a dealer is required.
