NASCENT Technology, a leader in end-to-end Automated Gate Systems (AGS) solutions, chose Zytronic’s award winning projected capacitive technology (PCT ™) touch sensors to feature in its latest range of AGS kiosks.
These ruggedised entry control terminals are designed to operate reliably in all-weather outdoor locations such as container ports, distribution warehouses and other logistics hubs.
As a leading manufacturer of Automated Gate Systems, NASCENT Technology has provided automated technology solutions to the intermodal freight industry since 1996. NASCENT was the first company to deploy 500 AGS Kiosks in various shipping locations across North America. The industry demands that solutions need to be interoperable, scalable, flexible and durable over a long period.
For this project, Zytronic designed a bespoke, highly impact resistant 15-inch ZYBRID® touch sensor for use in NASCENT’s AGS kiosks. The laminated touch sensor is made from 6mm thick toughened, anti-glare treated glass (to aid display visibility, even in direct sunlight) and works reliably during heavy rain and crucially for this application, even when the user (truck driver) is wearing heavy work-gloves.
This is a classic application for Zytronic’s PCT touch sensing technology, as it utilizes the key attributes of the technology, namely, its inherently rugged construction, an unrivalled ability to function reliably in all environments, and a manufacturing process flexible enough to enable bespoke designs, even in small quantities.
